US Visa China

The United States and the People’s Republic of China share an interesting history both economically and diplomatically. China remains one of the most populous countries on the plant and both the US and China have strong economic potential moving forward. That said, China is something of an “emerging market,” albeit a large one. While the US has enjoyed economic prosperity over the past 100 years, China has seen periods of unrest and economic stagnation. This is changing as the Chinese economy continues to post major improvements year on year.

With the advent of the 1990’s the Chinese economy began to grow at an astonishing rate. With that in mind, the American policies toward China as a trading partner became more favorable. The reader will likely be asking themselves, “this is all good news, but how does this relate to American Immigration?”

A US Family Visa is common for those American Citizens and Lawful Permanent Residents seeking a visa for a spouse or loved one in China. There are many types of family visas such as the US fiance visa, also referred to as a K1 visa. Then there is the US Marriage Visa. However, the precise visa category may differ depending upon the couple’s situation. For example, a couple married for less than two years at the time of filing would be seeking a CR1 visa benefit. Meanwhile, those who have been married for over 2 years at the time of petition submission may be eligible for an IR1 visa.

Regardless of the economic climate, a US family visa is available for those who qualify. That said, economic or employment visas can be more difficult to obtain as the qualifications are not as “cut and dried” in the sense that the overall economy of the USA and the employment situation in the United States can have a tremendous impact upon those who wish to travel to the USA to work or invest. A few commonly sought US employment, Treaty Trader, and investment visas are the L1 visa, the E1 visa, and the E2 visa. Other applicants may seek H1 visa benefits, depending upon the functions they wish to perform in the United States of America. Finally a travel document such as an EB5 visa may be available to those who qualify. That being said, it is always wise to consult an attorney prior to making any decisions with regard to travel documents as an attorney can provide insight into the petition and application process. Furthermore, an American attorney can also advise as to a prospective applicant’s chances of success.

The US visa process can be complex and Byzantine. Those in China wishing to travel to the United States are well advised to assess all of their options prior to submitting an application for visa benefits.
